Legs Up the Wall as a Daily Practice

Legs up the Wall is a brilliant and simple practice. It is something that I do daily as it is such a huge benefit to body, mind and spirit. Simple and accessible. If getting on the floor is challenging for you, then you can lie in bed with your legs up the wall or on the couch or any other place you can think of.

Legs up the Wall provides a great break in the day to reset from too much sitting or standing.

I created the drawing above for one of my yoga teacher training programs. It illustrates the many benefits. The most important thing to remember is that it helps almost EVERYTHING! How great is that?!

I'd like to suggest that you practice Legs Up the Wall daily building up to 5 minutes over the next week. It does not matter what time of day that you practice.

This simple shape is a great antidote to too much sitting and too much standing and since it is calming to the nervous system it is helpful for just about everything. It is a good and simple place to start with for your home practice. You can use a pillow under your head and neck or have your head directly on the floor and just simply stop your day for a few minutes.

I have created a video for you to go over the basics of this shape. You can access the Video HERE. While you are there, check out the other practice resources in the Yoga Practice Resources Playlist.
