Come as You Are

We often tell ourselves a comforting lie: “I will start taking care of myself as soon as I feel a bit better, have less stress, get more flexible or have more time.”

We wait for the perfect conditions to arrive before we take action. But waiting to feel good before you start yoga is like waiting to be clean before you take a shower.

The ancient philosopher Lao Tzu beautifully expressed the answer:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

In the original language, this proverb actually translates to: "A journey of a thousand miles begins from beneath your feet."

It means you do not need to be somewhere else to start. You do not need a calm mind, a pain-free body, or perfect energy. The journey to healing and balance begins exactly where you are standing right now—even if you feel stiff, tired, or overwhelmed.

Yoga isn't a reward for feeling good. It is the path that takes you there.

Your "first step" can be as simple as showing up!

If you are waiting for a sign, or waiting to feel "ready," let this be your invitation. Come exactly as you are. Your mat is waiting, and your first step starts right beneath your feet.
