Pondering the Gifts of Kaiut Yoga - Part 9

Updated: Oct 7, 2023

This is Post 9 of 10. As I move towards my 60th birthday, I am pondering the gifts brought to my life by the practice of the Kaiut Method, my work with Tucker Shelton and my studies with Francisco Kaiut. I’d like to share some of those thoughts with you. I’m thinking one post per day as I count down to 60.

Back in March of 2020 when all the studios closed, Tucker moved quickly to get us online with Zoom. Can I just say that getting to keep up with my Kaiut practice in the midst of the global pandemic was a lifesaver! Taking class helped me to get out of bed in the morning and gave me a sense of routine that I really needed! The ability to take these classes online also enabled me to take classes every day. And these daily practices helped me and my new body to get some amazing pandemic projects done in the garden, the house and more.

I’ve got to say the one of the big gifts of having this practice online was being able to see others and to be seen! As someone who lives alone, if not for these classes during lockdown, both taking and teaching, I would have gone days without human interaction!

We also quickly learned how well the Kaiut Method translated to being online. As teachers of the Kaiut Method, we do not rely on demonstrating the sequence. We instead are taught to cue the class with precise and clear language that describes how you get into each shape and this makes our classes different that most yoga online where the teacher is demonstrating throughout the class. Our classes are live on Zoom. We get to see and talk with each student throughout the practice just like in a studio class. We are able to cater the sequence of the day to each person who shows up taking into account their specific needs and limitations. We offer variations and modifications tailor made for YOU. We are able to offer a high level of care and attention to each student. It is an intimate experience from the comfort of your own home.

Before this, if you didn’t live in a town that had a Kaiut teacher you were out of luck, but thanks to the current state of the world, you can join us through the magic of Zoom no matter where you are! And even when we are able to return to the studio, we plan to keep doing classes online as we have so many students from all over the country! Heck, you can even keep up this practice when you are away from home!

I never in my life thought that I would be a yoga teacher but I was so inspired by this work and the amazing changes that I felt in my body, that I just knew it was what I have been preparing for my whole life. I am honored to get to share this brilliant work with my community. I am excited to share it with every body that I know. I'd love to show you how the Kaiut Method can bring you hope for a better more mobile and functional life!

No previous yoga experience needed. How cool is that?! I'd love for you to try some classes with us and see for yourself!
